Vishwas, Sanjay in the run for AAP convenor

Meanwhile, Kumar Vishwas is likely to head the National Executive meeting, which is scheduled to be held on March 28. According to party sources, Yogendera Yadav and Prashant Bhushan are likely to be expelled from the National Executive. The sources further said that Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal himself, is going to recommend their names. Later, the party will come to decision on this regard after the voting.

The sources said that Kejriwal will recommend the name of Kumar Vishwas for president’s post, while Yadav and Bhusan are likely to be expelled from the National Executive. The sources further said that all the elected MLAs of Delhi will participate in this meeting but only six of them have voting rights.

Meanwhile, there have been ongoing negotiations during the last few days between the two warring camps of the party to sort out differences. Both sides are trying to iron out differences on several critical issues. The outcome of the negotiations will have a bearing upon the drawing up of the agenda for the National Council meeting.

The AAP National Council has over 300 members and meets once a year. The last NC meeting took place in February last year.

Meanwhile, while talking to mediapersons, Kumar Vishwas said that he will take any responsibility assigned by the party upon him. When asked if he would lead the National Executive meeting on March 28, he said: “I am a dedicated AAP worker and will perform any assigned responsibility.”

The meeting of the 21-member National Executive, which includes top members of the party like its chief Arvind Kejriwal, including beleaguered leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, is likely to be held before the meeting of National Council on Saturday. But it is not clear whether Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal will attend the meeting or not, sources said.
