Virk among 6 IPS officers shifted, Khirwar new Ggn CP

Gurgaon Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk, who faced flak after a spell of rains brought the city to a halt, was on Tuesday shunted out and posted as IG of Rohtak Range.

Five other IPS officers were also transferred by the Haryana government and Sandeep Khirwar, IG, Security with additional charge of IG, Railways and Commando, was appointed Gurgaon’s Commissioner of Police.

Virk has been posted as IG, Rohtak Range, replacing Sanjay Kumar, who has been given the charge of IG, Security, said an official spokesman here. Khirwar, a 1995 batch officer, is expected to take charge soon, sources said.

Virk came under fire after traffic in the Millennium City came to a standstill due to heavy rains and waterlogging last month.

He was also involved in a spat with another IPS officer Bharti Arora over a rape case last year when the then Gurgaon Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic) had accused him of putting pressure on and threatening her to falsely implicate the family members of the accused.

Besides Virk, Khirwar and Kumar, Alok Kumar Roy, IGP/SCB, has been posted as ADGP, Railways and Commando, SK Jain, IGP, Home Guards, has been posted as ADGP, Home Guards and Rajbir Singh Deswal, IGP, HPA Madhuban, has been posted as ADGP, HR and Litigation, Police Headquarters, Panchkula, said the spokesman.
