Vijender Gupta suggests govt to declare dengue as epidemic

“Instead of unnecessarily dragging the Prime Minister’s name in the dengue crisis, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should immediately declare dengue as an epidemic and the situation as a medical emergency. It will help the government to fight the disease at both legal and operational levels without any constraints. It will empower the CM to engage the services of doctors, paramedical staff and nurses from other states,” said Gupta in his suggestions to the Chief Minister.

“He can declare certain hospitals exclusively for dengue patients. It will also enable him to issue necessary directions and facilities to dispensaries. It will enable him to cover entire Delhi and ensure that patients get medical aid within <g data-gr-id="19">short</g> distance from his home,” he added.

Gupta however, denied receiving any invitation of a meeting from the office of the CM. “I had asked him to start dengue preparation in <g data-gr-id="18">April-May</g> but the government was in deep slumber. The government must release funds to civic bodies immediately so that they could intensify their efforts in combat dengue,” added Gupta.
