Vijay Kumar Yadav, an IAS officer currently posted in Noida Authority, has been appointed as Vice-Chairman (V-C) of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). Yadav replaced senior bureaucrat Santosh Kumar Yadav who has been transferred to Lucknow as Secretary to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The newly appointed V-C will take charge on Wednesday.
Vijay Kumar Yadav joined service as PCS officer in 1988. Before his elevation as GDA V-C, he has worked in more than 20 districts including Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Agra, Bulandshahr, Etawah, Gautam Buddh Nagar, etc.
In 2008, he was promoted as an IAS officer in the UP cadre. He took charge as Deputy CEO of Noida Authority early in 2012 and was <g data-gr-id="30">anointed</g> as Additional CEO later. In Ghaziabad, he held posts of City Magistrate and SDM earlier.
Before taking charge, Yadav told Millennium Post that he will not leave any stone unturned to make Ghaziabad a world class city. He further added that focus will be on <g data-gr-id="28">infrastructural</g> development of the area.
“Emphasis will be on Metro projects, elevated roads, Northern Peripheral Expressway and expansion of NH-24. Traffic management and beautification of the city will also be on my priority list,” said Yadav.
“NH-24 and other major roads witness massive traffic jam during peak hours and hence there is an urgent need to de-congest them. For this, widening of the roads will take place soon. More <g data-gr-id="35">foot-over</g> bridges (FOBs), Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) will come up for pedestrians in the city. Traffic junctions, which witness massive jams, will be identified and plans will be chalked out to minimise congestions.
To make officers more accountable, better co-ordination will be created among them,” said Yadav, adding that discussions will be held with local residents, RWA people and social organisations to make the city smarter and better. Their suggestions will be implemented in the best possible way, he added.
