Vehicle registration details just a text message away

You can now get detailed information about registration of your vehicle and tax related matters by just sending an SMS as the State Transport Department has introduced an SMS service which will send alerts to the applicants when their vehicles get registered.
The move came after the officials of traffic department informed the assistant regional transport officers of all districts in Uttar Pradesh about the new system. The officials of the department have been trained by the representatives of the National Informatics System (NIS) to provide the facility to the applicant.
The applicant will get the information about the vehicle, tax and other details about the vehicle until he gets the registration certificate of the vehicle with the message. They will have to send a message to 09212357123 with the number of the vehicle to get the details. The officials said that within seconds, the sender will receive a message about the name of the financer, registration number and validity period.
Until now, the applicants had to visit the RTO office personally and stand in a long queue apart from paying Rs 50 to get the information.
