‘Vasudeva always delivered more than hundred per cent’

While conferring the ‘Outstanding Contribution For Promoting Education in Petroleum Sector’ award on S Vasudeva, S K Manglik (first chairman and managing director as ONGC transitioned to a Corporation from a Commission) said that he had met ONGC chairman Sudhir Vasudeva 33 years ago in the Bombay High North fields at Mumbai Offshore.

He had observed that as a young engineer Vasudeva would not only accomplish the task given to him but deliver something beyond. That is how he registered Vasudeva in his frame of mind since those times.

Vasudeva has been a pioneer in involving students and academic fraternity at the IORS meet being held at Mumbai. Vasudeva holds the chair position at the board of governors of NIT Raipur (his Alma Mater from where he emerged as a Gold Medalist in Chemical Engineering) and also a Special Invitee in the Board of Governors of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gujarat. He has also been motivating student involvement in the oil and gas sector and ensured wide participation of the academia and the student fraternity at the last Petrotech as well.

Appreciating the Perspective Plan 2030 which was shared at the meet by Vasudeva, Manglik said that the plan should take into consideration the improving recovery from the existing fields , emphasise on the eastern offshore assets and strive for more production form non conventional energy resources liked CBM. He added that for due attention of the government on the oil industry, a few experts from the oil industry should be nominated to the legislature.
