Varun records statements in hate speech case

BJP general secretary Varun Gandhi on Monday recorded his statement in a case related to firing and clash between his supporters and police after his arrest in 2009 over hate speech.

Varun recorded his statement before the district Judge Vinod Mishra in Pilibhihere. Now, the next hearing would be on 23 April.

The case is related to a FIR lodged against Varun  Gandhi and nine others under section 147, 148, 149, 307, 427, 336, 332,12 (B), 188 and 7 criminal law Act registered at Kotwali police station on 28 March, 2009 when he was arrested and was being taking to the Jail.  

Varun had already been exonerated in both the cases related to hate speech.

Earlier, the BJP leaders in the district had arranged for a warm welcome of Varun after becoming the general secretary of the party but was postponed in the last moment due to some personal reasons.
