Varun praises cousin Rahul, retracts later

On Tuesday, Varun invited severe criticism from party leaders after he said that Rahul is doing good work through his self-help groups by upgrading the status of women in Amethi and promised to follow the same in Sultanpur district from where he contesting. He made the ‘rare statement’ while addressing a group of teachers in Sultanpur.
Rahul take no time in responding to his estranged cousin’s praise and said: ‘We have been working continuously in Amethi. What Varun is saying is right.’
Soon after his statement, BJP leadership called up Varun and expressed their displeasure on such pro-Rahul statements. Varun then tweeted: ‘My statement should not be seen as an endorsement of any political party or candidate.’
