Varun Dhawan keeps mum about Shuddhi

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is stepping into Salman Khan’s shoes for Shuddhi, has decided to maintain silence regarding the project.

“I will not say anything about Shuddhi. People have said a lot about it, but as an actor, my job is to act... just talking about is not going to help. So, all that I will do is act and let the audience decide,” Varun said here.

To be directed by Karan Malhotra, Shuddhi features Varun and Alia Bhatt. The actor has also rubbished rumours about the film being based on author Amish Tripathi’s debut book Immortals of Meluha.

“There are a lot of things that are new in this film <g data-gr-id="40">(Shuddhi) .</g> There is a rumour that it is based on Meluha ... Shiva and all that... but is not true... The film is on a completely different subject,” Varun said.

But Karan Johar last month announced that he has finalised Varun and Alia Bhatt for the lead pair in the film, which will be directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame.

“With Shuddhi lot of people have said a lot of things. I don’t want to say anything. An actor’s job is to act and I will just do things to the best of my ability... Then people have to decide how Alia and <g data-gr-id="41">me</g> have performed and whether they liked us or not,” Varun said in an interview here.

Shuddhi is expected to hit theatres during Diwali next year. Reportedly Salman, who is known to support and motivate young talent suggested Varun’s name for Shuddhi.

Varun’s another big project is Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, where he is paired opposite newcomer Kriti Sanon.
