Vaishali Dalmiya, power department help light up several households in Liluah

Immediate steps were taken and posts have been set up within a day after the local MLA Vaishali Dalmiya approached the state Power Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay to ensure power supply to the small area at the bordering area of Bally and its adjacent Domjur Assembly constituencies with around 100 households.

The most interesting part is that no steps were taken during the 34-years of the Left Front rule to ensure power supply to the place, under ward number 63 of the Howrah Municipal Corporation, which is situated very close to the city.

The residents of the area had to run from pillar to post but none of the authorities paid heed to their repeated requests. The matter came to the notice of Dalmiya recently and she took an immediate move and approached the power minister directly. She had approached the power minister on Saturday and a survey was taken before connecting the area with high voltage overhead wires on Sunday.

The people were happy with the pace of the work of the power department and they congratulated both the power minister and the local MLA for executing the work for the benefit of common people within a day.

After completing the survey work, West Bengal Electricity Supply Board (WBSEB) completed around 99 per cent work of setting up of the poles to lay overhead wires. Now it is just a matter of a few days when children of the area do not have to light kerosene oil-lamps to study after sunset. It may be mentioned that the electrification work in the entire Howrah district including Liluah had taken place in a good pace in the past five years after the change of guard in the state. The area had left out for certain reasons. But the area of Chasipara too will have no complaint in terms of power supply in the next few days.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said after holding the administrative review meeting in Howrah on Tuesday that the electrification work in the district will be complete within the next one or two months.

Dalmiya said: “More steps will be taken up for an overall development of Bally Assembly constituencies and there are many projects which are on the anvil. I would also like to thank the
power minister for ensuring power supply to the area within such a short span of time.”
