US national gang-rape: Woman records statement

The US woman who was allegedly gang-raped by a group of five men including a tourist guide in a five star hotel in Connaught Place, recorded her statement on Wednesday before the magistrate under Section 164 CrPc. The woman has come to India to help police probe the alleged gang-rape that happened during her stay in India when she visited in March this year.

The woman has joined probe after the registration of an FIR by the Delhi Police. Earlier, the woman planed to come to Delhi after December but rescheduled her visit and came early after she got to know that the accused have denied any involvement in the alleged incident.

The tourist guide was recommended by the hotel staff to the woman. The police are also scanning the role of the hotel staff in the alleged gang-rape incident.

The US national during her stay in Delhi would be taken to the five star hotel and might also be asked to identify the five accused whom she has alleged of raping her.

In her complaint  filed with the police, she said that the tour guide on the pretext of discussing the plan came to her room and was joined by four others. They forced themselves on her and raped her.

Shocked by the incident the woman decided to return to US and later filed a complaint through an NGO. Later, she filed a formal complaint herself when asked by the cops to do so.

The police have also questioned the accused tourist guide along with others. They, however, have denied their involvement.
