‘Urgent action needed to fill DU vacancies’

Aditya Narayan Misra, chairperson, Academics for Action and Development (AAD) met M Mangapati Pallam Raju, Minister of Human Resource Development and drew his attention towards some crucial issues that have come to the fore while implementing  the Sixth Pay Commission.

According to Misra, the efforts of the AAD-led DUTA has resulted in the creation of more than 4,000 vacancies in the various colleges of DU.

The minister was requested to tackle the issue so that the process of permanent appointments can start in DU and its colleges without delay. The minister assured to take the necessary steps so that the appointments can be resumed at the earliest.

Misra also said there are several anomalies in the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission, which must be resolved expeditiously in order to boost the morale of serving faculties.

The Revisit Committee, constituted by the UGC has deliberated on these anomalies and reportedly submitted its report.
