UP polls: Rahul to start door-to-door campaign in Rudrapur from Sept 6

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will start his Mission UP with a door-to-door campaign in Rudrapur, Deoria, from September 6 where he will demand ‘Kisan Maangpatra’ from the locals.

Gandhi scion will start his 2,500 km-long UP poll yatra from Rudrapur, Deoria, and will cover Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar and Basti areas in first two days.

This is for the first time that Congress VP will do a door-to-door campaign and will ask locals to provide him with their demands which will help the party strategists to understand the issues plaguing farmers, labourers, youth and women. He will also do ‘Khat sabhas’ - small meetings with farmers apart from Nukkar Sabha.

“A campaign to secure the rights of poor, farmers and labourers in government resources,” he tweeted along with first two-day schedule of his Mahayatra.

The Amethi MP will embark on a Mahayatra from Deoria – the eastern end of poll-bound Uttar Pradesh to Delhi on September 6. He will criss-cross from the state and will cover 55 Lok Sabhas, 223 Vidhan Sabhas and 39 districts.

Congress blitzkrieg election campaign in UP is in its second phase. Already, 16 top leaders of the party are touring across the state covering 65 districts including Gandhi bastions Raebareli and Amethi.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi carried out a roadshow in Varanasi and Rahul Gandhi held meeting of workers in Lucknow in the first phase of the election campaign.

AICC senior leaders have already cleared that the ongoing two poll yatras will not meet with that of Gandhi.
