Union Minister backing sex trade in Capital’s red light district?

Addressing a press conference, Maliwal has alleged that the prostitution racket worth “thousands of crores” has been operational for years and the daily business of prostitution in GB Road was at least Rs 5 crore. She claimed she has a credible lead that the racket was running under the patronage of a Union minister and an “important Delhi-based leader of a national party” under whose patronage this prostitution has been running.”

Maliwal claimed she was trying to find out the real people behind the prostitution racket which was thriving just three kilometers from the country’s parliament, when an FIR was slapped against her. 

Maliwal has been booked by the Anti Corruption Branch in connection with alleged irregularities in women’s panel recruitment.

“I was told not to meddle with the GB road sex business and all my requests to the MCD to crackdown on the brothels fell on deaf ears.,” said Maliwal. 

“I was about to conclude the probe and find the real culprits when fake FIRs were registered against me. 

Now, I’m receiving messages that the central government will have me arrested and removed from my post through the office of the LG,” she alleged. Maliwal alleged that girls as young as 8 to 10 were being exploited and sold, often made to sleep with at least 30 persons every night.

The Anti-Corruption Branch on Tuesday registered an FIR against the DCW chief in connection with the alleged irregularities in recruitment in the women’s panel. 

The ACB had taken up the probe on the basis of a complaint by former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh, who had alleged that several AAP supporters were given plum posts in the women’s panel. Singh, in her complaint, had listed the names of 85 people who, she claimed, got jobs “without requisite credentials.”

Sharmistha Mukherjee, spokesperson of Delhi Congress, said if Maliwal has made an allegation against a Union Minister, she must substantiate her charge. 

“As it is a serious allegation against a minister, it should be investigated properly so that the truth can come out. The DCW chief must reveal the name .”

Reacting to Maliwal’s explosive claims, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay dismissed it as a baseless allegation. He said that that Maliwal was hitting back to charges levelled against her by making baseless allegations.
