UN Security Council reforms must reflect political realities: Mahajan

Ban Ki-moon called on Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in Parliament House on Tuesday. Emphasizing  that an early reform of the United Nations and expansion of its Security Council is an important priority for India, Mahajan stressed that the United Nations Security Council must be reformed to reflect the current political realities and more developing countries should be included as both permanent and non-permanent members.  She pointed out that the lack of reforms had affected the credibility and effectiveness of the Security Council and Moon’s leadership would prove vital for urgent reforms.
