Uber rape case: Two cops examined

Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja recorded the statements of two police sub inspectors — Devender and Sandeep — who were testifying as prosecution witnesses.

Accused driver Shiv Kumar Yadav was arrested by Delhi Police on December 7 from his hideout in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

Devender told the court he was a member of the team which apprehended Yadav from Mathura after conducting a raid.

Sandeep told the court he was a part of the team that seized the vehicle inside which the woman was allegedly raped.

Yadav, 32, allegedly raped the woman executive in the cab she hired to head back home in north Delhi’s Inderlok area on December 5 last year.

The trial will continue Friday and the court will likely record the statement of an expert from the Forensic Science Laboratory and seven other witnesses.

The court last week framed charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm or endangering the life of a woman, kidnapping a woman, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt under
various sections of the Indian Penal Code against Yadav. The trial is being conducted on a day-to-day basis.
