Uber driver arrested for plotting dacoity

Police said that the accused had formed a gang for committing the crime and this is the first time it has been found that an Uber cab driver was involved in such a conspiracy. The investigating officers are also probing for any past criminal activities of the accused.

Since the introduction of the Uber cab in the city, some incidents were, however, been reported where the cab drivers stood accused of misbehaving with the women passengers but this incident has shocked the senior police officers in the city.

Police personnel said that they spotted a white Swift Dzire cab parked at Monu Memorial Institution on Topsia Road. When they reached there, five persons were found inside the cab. As soon as the police personnel approached the car, two persons jumped out of the car and fled the spot. Police managed to nab the other three gang members, including the driver. After searching the cab the police recovered improvised guns, two toy guns look alike of original and some weapons.

The trio arrested have been identified as Mohammad Roshan, Seikh Nasim and Mohammad Farad. During interrogation, Roshan, the cab driver, told police that he drove the cab by day and helped his friends in dacoity by night.
