Two traffic cops hit by car, severely injured

Two police officials on patrolling duty at the Tihar Jail Road were severely injured when a Wagon R car hit them in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar area on Monday afternoon. The two police officials have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sri Ram and Head Constable Ranbir and the former was said to be in critical condition.

“The two police officials were patrolling on the Jail road around 3.30 pm when the car drove over them. The driver was held on the spot. The errant driver, Prashant, was in an inebriated state. He works in a call <g data-gr-id="24">centre</g> in Gurgaon and has been arrested.” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (West).

“The ASI has received severe head injuries while the head constable’s hand got fractured. Both are undergoing treatment at Mata Chanan Devi hospital.” he added.

A case has been registered at the Hari Nagar police station under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) against the accused. Further probe is on.
