Two thrashed for stealing medicines from shop

Two persons were manhandled by a mob after they were caught stealing medicines from a shop. The incident took place on late Saturday night at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas.

Police said that the owners and employers had noticed two persons stealing medicines from the shop while going through footages of a surveillance camera. They identified the persons. Instead of lodging any complaint with the police, they waited for the person to return to the shop.

After around five days of the first incident, the duo returned to the shop on Saturday night and attempted to flee after stealing some medicines before anyone could have understood anything. But they were caught by an employee of the shop. They verified and was confirmed that they were the same persons who had stolen medicines five days ago. The employees of the shop and local people started beating them up till they fell on the ground.

Police rushed to the spot and rescued the duo. The police found that they received severe injuries all over their bodies and were bleeding profusely from injuries. Interestingly, the owner of the medicine shop had provided first aid treatment to them before the police took them to police station.

The duo was arrested. Police have come to know that one of their names is Pradip Mali.

A police officer said that there had been repeated incidents of theft in the area. Police suspect that the duo was behind the crime and trying to find whether anyone else is involved with them.
