Two teachers arrested on separate molestation charges

Two teachers were on Saturday arrested from two different places in the state on charges of molesting girl students. Asim Sarkar (55), a teacher from Vidyamandir Primary School in Birati has been arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of a student at Airport police station.

Family members of the victim alleged that the accused used to abuse the students. Police came to know in the interrogation that the accused had repeatedly abused the girl students of the school. A huge contingent of the police later reached to the school to control the situation. A police picket has been set up outside the school to prevent any untoward incident.

The parents of various students on Saturday staged demonstration outside the school premises protesting against the incident. Police later arrested the accused from his house on the basis of the complaint.

In a separate incident a teacher of a residential school in Malda was arrested for molesting girl students of the school. On the basis of the two complaints lodged by the relatives of two students, police have arrested the teacher.

The accused Debkanta Mondal is a teacher of the residential school which was set up by his father Nemai Mondal who is a station manager of Harishchandrapur in Malda.

On Friday, a guardian of a student went to the school to visit his daughter who is a student of class III. When the father met his daughter at the school, she told him that Debkanta had abused her.
Police said that the accused has been booked up under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).
