Two sisters dead, eight others critically injured in Gzb accident

Two sisters, aged between 17 to 23 years, were killed while eight others including their brother were critically injured in a road accident on NH 24 in Ghaziabad on Wednesday night. Police said that the victims met with the accident when a speeding roadway’s bus hit their car.

The victims suffered grievous injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital where two succumbed to their injuries while condition of the remaining was stated to be critical.

According to the police, the accident took place at Ghaziabad-Hapur border around 11 pm
when Uttrakahand Roadways’ bus, which was coming towards the national Capital, hit a Hyundai Verna car.

The impact of the accident was so high that the car turned turtle several times while the bus also over turned. As the car was thrown at a service lane of the highway, the victims Varsha, Pankhuri and Rajesh, suffered multiple fractures.

Occupants of the bus —Vinod, Amit, Vivek, Sumit, Deepak and Harish got critically injured.
The passers-by informed the police about the incident and the victims were rescued.

They were admitted at ICU where Varsha (17) and Pankhuri (23), both residents of the national Capital died after few hours of treatment while others were recuperating.

The errant driver of the bus fled from spot leaving the victims in trouble.

“We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. We have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are searching for the accused bus driver. Family of the victims have also been informed,” said a police official.
