Two separate road accidents kill 2, injure many

Two persons were killed while seven others were injured in two separate road accidents that took place in Nadia and Howrah on Monday morning. The first incident took place in Chakdah in Nadia when an ambulance lost its control and rammed into a stationery truck from behind. The local people heard a loud thud and rushed to the spot to rescue. 

The local people along with the police rescued the injured and rushed them to Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital where two persons were declared brought dead while seven others, including a woman, are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The condition of some of the injured is stated to be serious. Police said that the ambulance was carrying a patient and his relatives from Madhupur area of Lalgola in Murshidabad to Kolkata. 

When the vehicle was running at a high speed along the NH34 it suddenly lost its control and hit a loaded truck, which was standing by the side of the road, from behind. According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that the driver might have fallen asleep at the time of accident.   

In a separate incident, a pool car lost its control and hit a matador at Uluberia in Howrah on Monday morning in which some school students received minor injuries. The driver of the pool car sustained severe injuries and is admitted in Uluberia sub-divisional hospital.

Police said that the pool car was carrying the school students from Ranikuthi area of Uluberia. The pool car lost its control when another vehicle was trying to overtake the pool car near the check post area and hit a matador which was standing on the roadside. After being informed, the police reached the spot and took the driver to the hospital. The students who were inside the car got frightened and started crying but the police rescued them all.
