Two robberies in two days rock Noida, Greater Noida

Both Noida and Greater Noida were rocked by two incidents of robbery on Sunday night and Monday respectively. The robbers managed to conduct loot of Rs 29 lakh cash and unspecified worth of jewellery in two separate incidents. Police have registered the cases in respective police stations. However, no arrests have been made yet.

Six armed robbers in a car robbed of Rs 29 lakh from an accountant in Sector-63, Noida, on Monday. The incident took place at around 12.30. 

Victim Hari Narayan, who works at an export company in Sector-63 had gone along with his driver Ram to withdraw cash from a nearby bank.  

As they were returning in the company’s car, six armed men wearing masks approached them in a Wagon R and overtook them. The robbers then hit the front glass with a blunt object to force the driver to deviate his route and then threatened them both at gun point. The robbers then snatched the bag containing cash and fled the spot. 

Deewakar Kumar, senior accountant in the company, told that the cash would have been used to distribute bonuses to employees ahead of Diwali. According to eyewitnesses, the robbers committed the incident within 25 seconds. He also added that CCTV cameras were not working in the area. Noida Police have detained the driver and accountant to question them. Police are also taking help of electronic surveillance and CCTV cameras to get a clue of the incident. 

Meanwhile, another incident took place at a jeweller’s house in Shaheed Marg, Dadri, Greater Noida. Police said eight armed robbers attacked jeweller Rakesh’s house on Sunday night and looted jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh along with Rs 1 lakh cash after overpowering his wife and children.
