Two peddlers arrested for selling drugs in city

With New Year approaching, drug peddlers have started selling drugs to prospective party-goers.

Making a dent on their efforts, the Special Cell has busted a drug syndicate with the arrest of two accused involved in the supply of hashish to festive-goers in Delhi.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Rattan Bahadur Singh and Shanu Ram. The police have seized 12.5 kg of grade A Hashish and a Santro car used in the commission of crime.

They were arrested on Monday after a tip-off was received that the accused would come near Hanuman Akhara, opposite Chandrawal water treatment plant on the  Outer Ring Road.

“We had deputed a team and the accused were caught with 6 kg of Hashish.

“When they were interrogated, we managed to find 6 more kilos from their rented accommodation in Majnu Ka Tila,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Pramod Singh Kushwah.

During interrogation it was found that Shanu Ram had been promised Rs 25,000 for transporting Hashish from Himanchal Pradesh to Goa to meet the ever increasing demands during New Year.
It was also found that Rattan had delivered over 100 kilogram of Hashish in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa. Further investigation is underway to identify the other members of the cartel.
