Two more tea garden workers die in N Bengal

Two more tea garden workers in North Bengal died due to alleged malnutrition on Monday. Incidentally, it may be mentioned that four people, who were attached to various tea gardens in North Bengal, died in the last eight days. 

District administration has, however, refused that the workers died due to starvation and malnutrition. According to the district administrative officials, the tea garden workers died after suffering from prolonged illness. 

Kazi Karki (42), who was a worker of Bagrakote tea garden, died of alleged malnutrition on Monday. Another worker from Kalchini tea garden reportedly died due to same reason. The authorities of Saili, where around 1,700 people used to work, closed the tea garden and put up a notice on the main gate. 

Ram Bahadur Serki, who was a worker of a closed Gergenda tea garden near Birpara died on Saturday. 

He had been suffering from lever ailment. Family members of the 50-year-old Sirki alleged that they could not get him admitted to a proper hospital due to financial crisis.
