Two more Sena MP likely to join Modi cabinet

Sources said, Sena supremo Uddhav Thackaray on December 8 had a meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister  Devendra Fadnavis and asked for the induction of two more MPs from his party in the NDA government.

It was learnt that Fadnavis assured him that he will take the matter with the Central leadership and also asked him to talk directly with the PM in this regard. Party insiders said that the induction of Sena leaders will happen anytime after the ongoing winter session of the parliament.

Earlier, Desai has returned from the Delhi airport at the last minute without being sworn in as Union minister in the ministry expansion of the Modi government. Then the Situation has worsened after Shiv Sena MP Suresh Prabhu, who got the portfolio of railway ministry, has resigned from the party and joined BJP. Then, Uddhav wanted Desai to be part of Modi’s cabinet, which was turned down by the senior BJP leaders, who pitch for Prabhu. Now, when both the parties came under a common platform, after a brief split before the Lok Sabha election on September 25, Uddhav wants Desai to get an important portfolio.

The other Sena leaders, whose name was proposed by Uddhav for the Union Cabinet are: Anandrao Adsul and Bhavna Gawli. While Anandrao retained his Amravati seat in Vidarbha by defeating his NCP rival Navneet Kaur Rana, Bhavna represents the Yavatmal-Washim constituency in Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena supremo will soon meet the PM and expected to pitch for only two of the leaders out of Desai, Anandrao and Bhavna.

It was also learnt that apart from more leaders from Shiv Sena, a minor reshuffle of the Union Cabinet is also on the cards. There are speculations, Najma Heptullah may be made governor of Assam and the Ministry for Minority Affairs may be handed over to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who is now a Minister of State in the same ministry.
