Two more detained in connection with Trinamool worker’s murder
Police on Sunday detained two more persons in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress worker Sanjay Roy from different places in Baguiati. It may be recalled that Roy was shot dead in broad daylight at Jagatpur in Baguiati on Friday morning. Police had arrested Dipankar Sarikar in connection with the murder on Friday night and came to know about the duo after interrogating him.
The duo, who was detained on Sunday, have been identified as Gopal Biswas and Gopal hakraborty.
Sources said the plan to kill Roy was chalked out in the house of Sarkar the day before the incident took place. After chalking out the plan, Sarkar had contacted both of them over phone. Police have got the cell numbers of the duo after going through the call detains of Sarkar’s cell phone.
The investigating officers have come to know that hired killers were engaged to murder Roy and the duo was well aware that the killers were engaged. Thus the police are trying to get the names of the persons who had actually executed the plan.
The investigation revealed that Roy had a rivalry with the accused as the victim had raised voice against construction of buildings illegally. Police are also trying to get details of the motorbike on which the miscreants had come to execute the plan. The duo has been questioned several times on Sunday.
It is learnt that the police have come to know about various aspects of activities carried out by the accused in the area. At the same time they gave some information about the accused those were engaged to kill Roy.
Team comprising police officers have been sent to certain places to conduct raids in search of the accused. Some more persons are expected to get arrested by Monday, said a police officer.
