Two injured in scuffle at Raniganj hospital

Tension ran high at the Raiganj District Hospital on Thursday after a scuffle broke out between the medical superintendent of the hospital and the Rogi Kalyan Samiti district secretary after the latter asked the super why he did not grant leave to a hospital doctor.

The incident turned ugly as both of them beat up one another following a verbal dual. Both the hospital super and the Rogi Kalyan samiti district secretary were injured in the incident. The Super was taken to the critical care unit of the hospital as he was suffering from the respiratory distress after the incident.It was learnt that Dr Kamal Sarkar attached to the hospital who is also a member of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti urged the hospital super Dr Anup Hazra for a leave few days ago. Dr Hazra denied granting his leave citing some reasons. Dr Sarkar informed the matter to the Rogi Kalyan Samiti district secretary Dr Anupam Saha and told him that the hospital super was harassing him. On Thursday morning Dr Saha went to Dr Hazra and asked him why he was not granting the leave of Dr Sarkar. This led to a heated altercation between the two. The duo engaged in a quarrel. Dr Hazra later slapped Dr Saha and a scuffle broke out between the two. The incident was caught in the CCTV camera. Both of them lodged police complaint against each other.
