Two held while trying to sell minor girl

Two youths were arrested from Girish Park while they were trying to sell a minor girl, police said on Sunday. 

Police said the accused Somnath Dey and Sk Suddam were remanded in judicial custody after being produced before the city court. 

On Saturday night, local residents found a 15-year-old girl moving around at Girish Park. The girl failed to reveal any information to the local people about herself. After getting information, a police team from Girish Park police station went to the spot and rescued her. 

She later told the police that she was a resident of Burdwan and Somnath, who is a resident of Budge Budge, brought her to the city. She also told the police that Somnath had sold him to a person. She didn’t know the name of the person to whom Somnath had sold her. Police initiated a probe and arrested Somnath. During the interrogation, he revealed the name of Sk Suddam, who was also arrested.
