Two held for harassing girl with objectionable photos

Police on Friday night arrested two youth on the charges of stealing data from the laptop of a student from Murshidabad Medical College. The accused also threatened to upload objectionable photos of her on social networking sites.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim, a resident of Suresh Sarkar Road in Phoolbagan, police arrested the accused. During the investigation, police came to know that the girl had a relationship with both the accused but had broken up later on.

The two accused, Akhilesh Ali and Omar Gazi were remanded in police custody till September 16 after being produced at Sealdah court on Saturday. The complainant had given her laptop to Akhilesh Ali for repairing with whom she had developed a relationship.

It has been alleged that the accused had transferred some data and photographs of the girl into his cell phone.

Police came to know that the laptop also contained some nude pictures of the girl that she herself had taken in some point of time. Ali had reportedly informed the girl that the data which were there in the laptop could not be retrieved.

Police said that her relationship with Ali broke few months ago following some quarrel. After the break up, the 23-year-old got involved in another relationship with Omar Gazi, a civil engineer who incidentally was also a friend of Ali.

The new relationship did not last too long as the couple separated. The friends felt that they were ditched by the girl and hence they decided to teach her a lesson.

Ali sent some objectionable pictures of the girl to his friend Omar who in turn sent few pictures to the girl and threatened to share them on social networking sites if she breaks the relationship.

After starting an investigation the police on Saturday arrested Akhilesh Ali who is originally from Berhampore in Murshidabad while Omar is a resident of Malabagh. Both the accused have been staying in the city for past few years.

A senior official of the city police said that the victim lodged a complaint on Friday morning on the basis of which the two accused have been arrested. A probe is on.
