Two held for cab driver’s murder

Two men were arrested for killing a taxi driver after he complained to  Chhattisgarh Police that the duo had booked a vehicle using  fake identity, and seemed suspicious. Rajesh Kumar Das and Anil Kumar Sah, hailing from Bihar, were arrested for killing Shamsher while they were on their way from Bilaspur to Raipur on 12 September.

Police said Shamsher, who took the duo in a vehicle from Agra to Bilaspur after their vehicle developed some faults, was informed by his owner that the two had booked the cab using fake identity.

They had introduced themselves as staff of Vasant Valley School in Gurgaon. Since Kumar and Sah had informed Satpal Yadav, the owner of Yadav Taxi Service, that they would return by 9 September, he called the school. The  authorities there informed that no such people worked there.

Becoming suspicious of the two, Yadav called his driver Shamsher and told him to be cautious. His  mobile became unreachable from the very next day.

The two were arrested and they said Shamsher had informed local police in Chhattisgarh.

‘They conspired to kill the driver on way from Bilaspur to Raipur. They strangulated Shamsherand dumped his body at an isolated place, and escaped with the car,’ said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police [South].
