Two held for abduction, murder

Two men have been arrested for allegedly abducting and killing a taxi driver with an intention to steal his vehicle, police said on Friday.

Rajesh Tiwari, 26, and Raj Kumar, 23, both residents of Majhawa village of Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from their village.

Bodhraj alias Lala, a resident of Basant gaon in South Delhi, went missing on September 15. A complaint was filed by his brother, who also informed police that his brother was last seen with Tiwari and his friend.

Tiwari and Kumar had hired Lala’s vehicle for going to Loni in Ghaziabad. Police tried to contact both Bodhraj and Tiwari but their mobiles were found to be switched off.

During investigation, police came to know that Tiwari was seen in his village and planning to escape to Nepal, DCP South district Chhaya Sharma said.

Tiwari was arrested in a late night raid from his village and so was Raj Kumar.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had killed Lala after robbing him of his valuables and Maruti van, Sharma said. The robbed vehicle was also recovered.

Tiwari, a driver, was a tenant in the house of Lala in Basantgaon.

During a visit to his village, he met Raj Kumar and planned to eliminate Lala so that they could take the vehicle to their village to earn livelihood, the DCP said.
