Two children found dead inside water reservoir

Two children from Bansdroni’s Ghoshpara area died after falling into an open water reservoir of an under construction building triggering tension in the locality.

A similar incident occurred in Jalpaiguri where two girl children fell in the pond and their bodies were later recovered by the local people.

Police said that the victims have been identified as Ankit Ghosh (5) and Subhadip Duari (7) both are residents of Ghoshpara area of Basdroni. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that both the victims were playing in the area when they suddenly fell into the reservoir filled with water situated on the ground floor just outside the under-construction building at Ghoshpara.

The victims’ family members came to the spot as they did not return home in the afternoon and found that a bicycle belonging to one of the victims was lying on the ground close to the water reservoir.

Their slippers were also there and this aroused the suspicion of their family members. They started a search for the two boys and later, found that their bodies were floating in the reservoir.

In another incident Silki Roy (3) and Manisha Dutta (4), residents of Rajganj area in Jalpaiguri died after falling in a pond while playing in the area.
