Two children die in building terrace collapse

Two children were killed, while two others injured, after the terrace of a building that was closed for the last two years collapsed in West Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area.

Bharti, Sonam, her brother Satyam and Monika were playing outside the house when the terrace of the house, where a washroom was built, collapsed on Saturday evening, a senior police officer said.

Bharti (5) and Sonam (6) were taken to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead. Sonam’s brother Satyam escaped with minor injuries but Monika’s condition is critical, he said. The two-storey building is owned by one Harman Singh, who has been staying abroad for the last five years, he said. Since the building was closed for the last five years and there was no one to look after it and the structure had grown weak and collapsed, he added.

A case has been registered against the owner.
