Two arrested for molesting minors in Rajouri Garden
The police on Wednesday arrested a private school cab driver and his helper for allegedly molesting two minor girls repeatedly in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden. The duo was nabbed after one of the girl’s parents filed a complaint.
Charanjeet Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar, has been identified as the <g data-gr-id="28">driver,</g> while his helper is Kulivinder.
Police said the <g data-gr-id="31">cab in</g> which Charanjeet used to take the children to school was his personal vehicle and not under the school. It was hired by the parents of the two minor girls on a monthly rent basis.
“As of now, Charanjeet and Kulivinder are not known to have been involved in any other crime,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar.
The incident of molestation came to light when one of the girl’s parents approached Rajouri Garden police station on Tuesday and lodged a case against the cab driver. They told the police that they had hired the cab around two months back.
“The regular harassment led to a change in behaviour of one of the girls. She enquired from her and learnt of the abuse,” said a police officer privy to the investigation.
Initially, the mother thought her daughter was not well, but on Tuesday the girl started crying. On asking whether she was facing any problem at school, the girl told her mother that the cabbie used to indulge in indecent acts, added the officer. The girl’s mother immediately informed her husband after which they approached police.
A case under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (<g data-gr-id="29">POCSO</g>) Act has been registered with Rajouri Garden police station and the police are investigating further in the matter.
