Two arrested for killing widow in East Delhi

Delhi Police arrested two people for killing a widow woman in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Friday. The accused has been identified as Fareed and Amit. Fareed hatched the plan to kill the woman since he was in a relationship with the victim’s daughter and she broke up with him, he thought the victim was behind the break-up. Police have recovered one knife, one country-made pistol, mobile phone and one motorcycle.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 2pm on November 25 in Shakarpur area where a 45-year-old woman was murdered in her book binding factory by two unidentified assailants. The call was made by one of her employees, Prem Shankar. Based on the statements of her two employees, Prem Shankar and Manoranjan, investigation was started. During questioning, both informed the police that one of the two accused, Fareed was known to the victim. On November 25, he along with another boy came to the factory. When Mehrunisha asked Manoranjan to get tea, the other accused Amit took out a pistol and forced Prem to turn to the wall and in the meantime, Fareed slit the woman’s throat after which both fled from the spot.

Based on a tip off received by the police on November 27, they arrested the two accused Fareed and Amit. During sustained interrogation, Fareed revealed that he was in a relationship with Mehrunisha’s daughter but she ended it.
