Tuskers being electrocuted due to electrical fencing

This has been a major cause of concern for the forest department officials to check the incidents of elephant death in this fashion.

Many farmers are electrifying the fencing wires to prevent their ploughing field from the damage of the tuskers and this has given anxious hours to the senior forest department officials.

The farmers from various parts of North Bengal have alleged that those wild tuskers often enter their land and carry out extensive damage to the crops incurring heavy financial loss. But no one comes forward to compensate them.

Despite of the repeated pleas to the forest department to prevent elephants from entering the farm land no steps were taken, alleged the farmers.

Hence many of the farmers had decided to put up fencing with wire by hooking from the nearby electrical polls.
