Try Indian jewellery with western silhouettes

I want to invest in some cocktail jewellery, but really confused. Please help.

Invest in pieces that has some cultural reference. These days gold and precious stones are too expensive. Instead, costume jewellery can be your friend. Skip chandelier earrings and go for stronger studs, Indian jewellery with western silhouettes can also be a good option. You can also layer on multiple cuffs in various materials.

How do I wear plunging necklines without looking tacky?

Ensure that the dress has a boning at the neckline to give proper support & structure to the dress. Short dress with a plunging neckline should be avoided. The correct undergarment is also a key for working this kind of a look. Don’t wear necklace. Accesssorise with a bold cocktail ring or cuff.

I have a tuxedo. But I am not very confident of wearing it. Also I would like to know if that is in trend now.

One needs to avoid a head-to-toe glamorous tuxedo. I don’t know the colour of your tuxedo,
but if possible keep black aside, and give colours a chance. Some trends are never out of trend, and
tuxedo is a classic. For a twist you can team it with a brocade jacket.

What is the silhouette that I can experiment with, given that I am pear shaped and dark skinned?

Draped dress and free flowing fabrics are just fine for your body. You can also opt for an A-line maxi dress. Stick to clothes that highlight your upper body. Colours like nude, beige, off-whites clubbed with bright accessories work well for the day.

I am mostly in my jutis, kurtis and denims. What else can I introduce in my wardrobe, without spending a lot of money?

Flea markets is good option. You could buy things real cheap. And you might also find some very interesting things. To get a different look, you can try maxi dress, playsuits , sheer blouses and coloured pants. And for your normal daily look, try and accessorise them differently.

Hi, can you recommend the proper length for my jumpsuit ?I am 5 ft 4”.

Well, jumpsuits work well, for people with a longer torso. A bias cut flowy fabric and ankle length jumpsuit will make you look taller. You can also opt for cotton, as it is an ideal fabric for all seasons.
