Trio arrested for BBA student’s murder in Ggn

A 22 year-old student was allegedly beaten to death at a party in Gurgaon by three inebriated youth, over a request for the music to be changed. Out of the three accused, two were disc jockeys and the other was their assistant. The accused were identified as- DJ Raju and Dharu and Amit. They have been arrested and booked for murder. The deceased, Rohit Bhardwaj, a second year student of Delhi’s Indraprastha University was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead. Rohit, a resident of Krishna Colony in Gurgaon had gone to attend a birthday party of his friend (Ankit) on Monday night. The party was organised at a vacant spot in Subhash Nagar and some 25 people had turned up for the party. The incident took place around midnight when a spat occurred between Rohit and the three accused over playing a particular song and dancing on the dance floor. When Rohit refused to pay heed to their request, the argument heated up and turned violent. Rohit was then beaten with hockey sticks and his father who went to rescue him was also beaten until he lost consciousness. On the complaint of Deepak Bhardwaj, the father of the deceased an FIR was filed. In his statement to the police, Deepak Bhardwaj said he saw some youth hitting his son with hockey sticks. When he rushed to intervene, one of them attacked him and pushed him. His head hit the wall and he collapsed, he said. The FIR was registered under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of IPC. “We believe the three accused were drunk and lost their temper, which led to the murder of Rohit. We have also questioned Ankit and his other friends, who were present at the time,” said Hawa Singh, ACP (crime), Gurgaon.
