Trinamool’s Vaishali Dalmiya campaigns on motor boat

Trinamool Congress candidate from Bally Assembly constituency, Vaishali Dalmiya, has chosen a unique way to campaign by travelling on motorised boat from Belur Math Kathgola Ghat to Dakshineswar Kali Temple

This is the first time when a candidate has travelled on a motorised boat for campaigning. Around 20 motorised boats were decorated with the party flags and banners. Dalmiya’s boat was travelling in front with the rest 19 sailing behind it. Local Trinamool Congress councillors and workers were in the other boats and they shouted slogans in support of Dalmiya.

Bally Assembly constituency in Howrah is situated in the western bank of river Hooghly and there are several important ghats which were beautified in the past four and a half years. Many important installations including the four-storied Bally office of the Howrah Municipal Corporation, which was earlier headquarter of Bally Municipality, is also situated on the river bank.

Hundreds of people gathered on the bank of river Hooghly and many were found standing in the verandah and terrace of their houses and residential apartments to get a glimpse of the Trinamool Congress candidate.

The boats passed close to the river bank and Dalmiya waived at the people as the boats proceeded towards Dakshineswar temple.

The campaign started at around 9.30 am. But people at different ghats were waiting since 8.30 in the morning.

People who reached late to the ghats missed the unique rally. Dalmiya returned on the boat after offering puja at Dakshineswar Temple.

The boats followed the same route to return to Belur Math Kathgola ghat.

The scene on the river bank was quite similar when she returned. More people gathered at the ghats when the boats returned.
