Trinamool Congress worker’s brother brutalised by goons

It may be recalled that the young TMC worker Rahul Roy was found with both his legs chopped off, near railway tracks at Tangra on March 14. He was left to die at the spot. Some locals spotted him lying in a pool of blood and writhing in pain and took him to the hospital. He is yet to be cured completely.

The victim’s family members had lodged a complaint with the police. Later, the family members also moved to the Calcutta high court, demanding a proper probe into the incident. The victim’s brother, Ganga Roy told the police that around seven to eight persons raided their house in the early hours of Monday. They started beating him up and attempted to kill him by stabbing him on the head. He received injuries on his head when one of the miscreants attacked him with a razor. He alleged that the miscreants were led by Uttam Rana, his relative Sachin Rana and Tinku Rana. They even beat up some women members of the family and local youth who had been supporting the family to fight against them. He alleged that the miscreants had even tried to beat up Rahul, who was resting in another room in the house. However, Rahul escaped getting brutalised by the goon, as the local
youth restricted them from entering his room despite getting beaten up mercilessly. The accused threatened to kill the TMC worker and his family members, including his brother if they did not withdraw the complaint that they had lodged in connection with the incident in which Rahul’s legs were chopped off.

The miscreants then fled realising that local people would reach the spot hearing the cries of the family members and could get caught. Ganga was taken to a local health care centre with
injuries on his head. He was discharged after necessary treatment. Rahul, whose condition is yet to be stable, was shifted to a relative’s house Tuesday morning as he was went into panic due to the incident.  His family members were apprehensive that his condition may deteriorate further.

Rahul’s brother narrated the entire incident to the police. He said that there was no question of being
deterred from their stand of continuing their fight to get justice. “The miscreants ruined Rahul’s
life. Thus, we will continue fighting for justice,” said Ganga.
