Trinamool confident of winning Behala West seat

Statistically speaking Partha Chatterjee of Trinamool Congress is far ahead of his competitor Kaustav Chatterjee of CPI(M) in Behala West constituency.

In 2011, Partha Chatterjee defeated his rival by 59,021 votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, TMC took a lead by 23,138 votes in this constituency. BJP got over 46,000 votes in this seat. In the 2015 Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls, TMC councillors won from all the wards.

Going by numbers, Chatterjee will win by a handsome majority; but the big question is where will the BJP votes go. It is expected that a sizeable portion of the vote will come to TMC helping Chatterjee to increase his margin.

Political experts said that some portion would go to Left Front also.

There is no doubt that in the past five years the condition in Behala has experienced a sea of change. From street lights to roads, from ironing out of drinking water problem to amenities The Behala is not the same which it used to be 20 years ago.

The communication has improved and after the area has come under the Kolkata Police, there has been better traffic management. If Joka BBD Bag metro rail is completed then the communication
system will further improve.

The CPI(M) candidate is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure his victory. From door to door campaign to road shows, CPI(M) has conducted everything and has tried to convey to its voters that democracy in the state does no longer exist and it needs to be re-established.

Chatterjee is a veteran political and he also held door to door campaign and road shows and in his meetings he is stating the misdeeds of CPI(M) which the residents of Behala are aware of and many of them witnessed those days of red terror.

A survey to the area revealed that braving all odds Chatterjee will come out victorious many be with lesser margin.
