Trinamool block leader shot at by unidentified goons in Birbhum

Khayrasole block president of Trinamool Congress in Birbhum was shot at by when he was returning after attending a party meeting near his residence on Thursday night.

Police said Dipak Ghosh, the block president, was admitted to hospital with severe injuries. He was 

shot at by some unidentified youth who came on motorbikes with their faces covered with pieces of clothes.

Police came to know that he had been followed by the accused from the place where Ghosh had attended the meeting and opened fire at him when he reached at a deserted place.

Local people rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital.

It has been learnt that he had been fighting against some anti-social activities in the area and had received threats for his fight against such activities in the area.

The police initiated a probe in this connection and interrogated some of people from the area but they failed to give any details of the accused involved in the crime.
