Trauma centre in-charge shifted

Delhi health minister AK Walia on Thursday stated that an enquiry committee constituted by Delhi government has ordered in-charge of the Trauma Centre to be removed.  

The committee headed by the special secretary, Delhi health government after taking account of all circumstances and causes has submitted a detailed report, where the medical officer (in-charge, repair and maintenance in Trauma Centre) has also been suspended.

The doctors are Dr Teena Khurana and Dr Richa Gupta, who have been dismissed were incharge of repair and maintenance.

Walia said, the two junior specialists deployed to look after anesthesia process have also been terminated and the department has been instructed to deploy efficient and experienced junior specialists in Trauma Centre immediately.

A Delhi court also rejected the bail plea of the two people, who were arrested in connection with the case, and sent them to 14 days judicial custody. Metropolitan Magistrate Chhavi Kapoor remanded supervisor Madanlal Sharma and technician Amit Singh Katoch to judicial custody.

Sharma and Katoch were arrested following investigations into the incident which took place at Shushruta Trauma Centre in north Delhi on Tuesday. They both are employees of a private firm which had been given the contract for supplying oxygen gas cylinders to the hospital and maintain its centralised gas plant.

Meanwhile, an FIR has already been registered with the police against the delinquent contractor and directions have been issued to initiate cancellation of the contract.

Further, the process of black-listing the contractor is also being initiated side by side. Health department has also been asked to carry on random and unscheduled inspections to find out any deficiencies in the system.
