Train services disrupted in Howrah, Sealdah divisions due to dense fog

Train services were affected in Howrah and Sealdah divisions due to dense fog on Wednesday morning. Various long distance trains were stranded at many stations since early morning. As a result, the overall train services in the two divisions were badly affected. 

Senior railway officials said due to poor visibility, many long distance trains were stranded at various stations. Various Sealdah bound trains coming from North Bengal had to wait at various stations. The passengers coming to the city reached here behind the schedule time. According to sources, Down Amritsar Mail was running delay by 1.5 hours, Down Bibhuti Express by 7 hours, Howrah Delhi down Rajdhani Express by 50 minutes, Down Dun Express by 4 hours, Down Mumbai Mail 2 hours, Down Kalka Mail 2.5 hours. Down Jaswantpur Express, Down Ranchi Hatia Express, Down Kamrup Express, Down Soraighat Express reached Howrah late. According to the Eastern Railway, the suburban railway services were not affected. 

Darjeeling Mail, Padatik Express reached Sealdah station late. Some local trains in the Sealdah division ran late causing inconvenience to the commuters.  

Meanwhile, the Alipore Meteorological Department said there was a possibility of rain in next few days. The weather was dull in the Southern part of the state from Wednesday morning, the Met office said. It also predicted that the maximum temperature in the city may hover around 20 degree Celsius in the next couple of days. The temperature on Wednesday stood at 18.7, two degree above normal.
