Trafficking: Cops rescue 17-yr-old girl from red light area, one arrested

The anti-human trafficking team of Kolkata Police rescued a 17-year-old girl from a red light area of the city. The girl was brought from East Midnapore’s Nandakumar by her sister-in-law a few days ago. But she was put up for sale, at the red light area, as her sister-in-law took money and fled.

The helpless girl then managed to call home and describe the whole incident there. The family members of the girl came to the Kolkata Police with her photograph.

The police team reached the red light area and rescued the girl from there.  “We have arrested the accused sister-in-law and took her to the place where she sold the girl. The family member identified the girl and took her to house,” said a police officer. However, police also arrested a person, Ajoy Saha, in connection of this case. Saha, allegedly worked as the middleman of this trafficking racket and arranged the tour.

“There are many in this trade who are playing a middleman role. Our team is working to unearth the cases. We will definitely recover many such helpless girls who were staying at the red light area,” said a top brass of Kolkata police.
