Trafficked Howrah woman rescued from Rajasthan

A middle-aged woman who was abducted on the day of Muharram from Howrah’s Uluberia, was rescued by the police on Thursday night.

A special team from Howrah District Police rescued the woman from Rajasthan’s Kota with the help of the local police. The woman’s father, Nazir Jaan alleged that local anti-socials abducted her daughter, while she was visiting a fair with her friends.

“They made her unconscious using a chemical spray, as I was told,” said Jaan. However, police learnt that the woman initially eloped with an unidentified man. Half way to Rajasthan, she understood that she would be sold to another person. “It was too late. The woman could not save herself there. She was taken to a house at Kota. She was confined there for several months,” said the officer.

The woman managed to get the address of that house. Then she stole a mobile phone from the owner of the house and called up her father.

“Her father came to us to lodge a complaint. After getting the complaint, we tracked the cell phone tower location to trace the place where she was confined,” police said.
