Traffic curtailed ahead of Obama visit

Traffic restrictions have been put in place in the national capital ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit with roads around ITC Maurya Hotel being shut down for vehicular movement while those leading to Rajpath will remain out of bounds for general public from Sunday.

According to police, general traffic restrictions will remain in place in New Delhi area in view of Republic Day parade and other programmes. It is advised to avoid New Delhi area, C-Hexagon India Gate on January 25 and 26. On January 27, restrictions shall be made on August Kranti Marg and public is requested to avoid August Kranti Marg.

“Part of Sardar Patel Marg (both carriageways) -- from Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg till Dhaula Kuan -- will remain closed for general traffic from 9 am. No traffic will be allowed on C-Hexagon India Gate between Akbar Road and Copernicus Marg. Traffic will also remain closed for a few hours on Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Ashoka Road,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.
