Traffic cop thrashed for stopping underage driver, video goes viral

Two traffic policemen were brutally beaten up by the mob in East Delhi's Golkulpuri area on Monday. The incident took place after the policemen <g data-gr-id="34">challaned</g> a juvenile violator for tripling. Their condition is stated to be critical, police said.

The incident took place around 9.30 am when Head Constable Jai Bhagwan and Constable Manoj stopped a boy for triple-loading on a motorbike. The boy, riding the motorbike did not have a driving licence and was found to be a minor, police said. The policemen, then, <g data-gr-id="33">challaned</g> the juvenile traffic violators.

One of the traffic policemen told the police that the moment they issued the challan, the  minor driver abused them and pushed him. The  boy’s friends also misbehaved with the policemen. 

Meanwhile, one of the boys  called up his  family members, who also thrashed the policemen. Soon, nearby residents gathered and beat up the policemen.

One of <g data-gr-id="32">spectators</g> recorded the act and uploaded the video on a social networking website, which went viral in a few hours. The Traffic Police have lodged a complaint at the Gokulpuri police station.
“In the video, the policemen are thrashed, kicked and punched brutally. Three persons, including a 65-year-old man, has been arrested in the case,” a senior police official said.

A PCR van reached the spot and rushed the policemen to a hospital. The policemen are said to be in a critical condition.
