Trader robbed of jewellery, cash at New Friends Colony

A trader was reportedly robbed of jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore and around Rs 5 lakh cash by a domestic help at South-east Delhi’s New Friends Colony on Wednesday night.

According to the police, Vimal who lives in the A-Block with his mother, wife and his 24-year-old daughter, hired a domestic help last week but had not verified the help’s documents.  

The robbery took place around 7.30 pm on Wednesday night when he was at work. When the daughter was not present in the house, the domestic help called up four associates. While threatening Vimal’s mother and his wife with a knife he along with his gang ransacked the house. When the daughter came back, the gang threatened her with the knife and locked her in a room after which they fled the house. 

The domestic help also called Chotu belongs to Uttar Pradesh and has also been charged for committing similar crimes in Mumbai, police said.

A case has been registered at the New Friends Colony police station under relevant sections of the IPC. Police are analysing the CCTV footage to identify the other four culprits.
